Monday always feels so dull, especially after an incredibly lovely and fulfilling weekend. On Saturday, I covered the Evanston Codeathon for the RoundTable. It was a surprise to step into a huge room in the Civic Center on a gray and rainy morning, to find it humming with about 20 people tap tap tapping on their laptops. The goal was to move content off the old platform onto a new moveable type template, a mindless but necessary task that I’m all too familiar with having just finished the same project myself with this site. All these people volunteering their day to help out, so nice. The City Manager mentioned how it was a good example of 21st century volunteerism…no more rakes and paint brushes, these days it’s “cords and coffee.” Read the rest of this entry
